Houssam Hariri High School holds that students should play an active, positive role in school life and we believe that our Student Council helps to accomplish this. Our Student Council fosters leadership and self-government, encourages initiative and participation in the school activities and gives students the opportunity to voice their opinions and work in partnership with the staff to improve their school life.

On October 22, almost 150 High School students from Grades 10, 11, and 12 voted by paper ballot for the 2008-2009 Student Council Elections. The winners were: Alaa Zahra, Rana Jradi, Jad Serhal, Mohamed Hammoud, Hiba Bsat, Ahmad Atab ,Nour Hmadi, Leen Atab, Khaled Wattar, Eman Kassab, Khodor Kchoury, Raya Akhdar, and Lama El Saoudi.

At the preliminary meeting on October 27, the elected students were nominated for their jobs and their job descriptions were outlined. The president, Alaa Zahra, and the vice president, Nour Hmadi, along with the advisor will further chair the meetings and draw up the agendas. The secretary, Hiba Bsat, records and types up the minutes and all the officers report at each meeting. Decisions at each meeting are by consensus. There is also a Student Council board with a pen and paper for other students to record their suggestions.
