This expression highlights the importance of the
"Discovery Center" in the classroom, since our learners learn best
through direct experiences ; they can explore the answers to questions
driven by their natural curiosity.
Throughout the theme "Who we are",
KG2A
learners were exposed to various activities in their discovery center
through which they inquired and further grasped the concept of
"heavy-light" "sticky- non sticky food", as well as developed their
thinking and research skills.
Individually and in pairs, they weighed
fruits, vegetables and other items on the scale, predicted how will the
scale`s hands move, observed them, recorded their observation on a grid
then shared their findings with their classmates to come up with which
item is heavier/lighter.
Sticky, non sticky food activity was
done in the same procedure but what differed here was eating the food
items apples, candies ...to realize the importance of
brushing the
teeth after eating sticky food especially the sugary ones.
These activities motivated our learners to reflect on
what they learned ,be inquirers and knowledgeable, since they were
enthusiastic to look for more heavy /light items at home to weigh them
in the classroom and present their findings in front of their
classmates. Moreover, some of them were balanced for they tried to rinse
their mouths with water after eating sticky food because they do not
have tooth brushes at school .
