Readers Theater Final Performance
It was a fabulous
and vibrant afternoon performance whereby the participants in Readers’
Theater Workshop enthusiastically and proudly presented their stories.
With scripts in hand and few simple props, with steadiness and
confidence, first and second graders were performing in front of their
parents and trying to use expressive voices to bring enjoyment to both
themselves and their audiences.
Over the past ten
weeks, participants were involved in oral reading through reading parts
in scripts with intonation and expression to help bring their texts and
characters to life. As they were reading, rehearsing and performing
their roles, they were experiencing the pleasure of reading and letting
their imagination soar and take marvelous journeys that could never be
portrayed on stage.
Through this culminating performance,
Readers Theater proved its efficacy in
boosting students’ reading
potentials and getting them read with comprehension, expression,
fluency, and joy.
