On Thursday February 18 the 11th graders were
scheduled to attend a "Shakespearean Conflict resolution" workshop. The
event was organized by the English Speaking Union (E.SU.) in cooperation
with L.A.U. and the British Council.
As the students entered the LAU campus, drones of bored teenagers, Mr.
Adam Coleman, an actor for the famous Globe Theater in England, met them
down there surprising them by being so lively; he began to speak in his
lively British accent, sharing funny anecdotes, and throwing his
audience into roars of laughter every now and again. He made all the
students shed their sour moods and enjoy the parade of theatrics. First
they began in a circle competing as "reds" and "blues" to groups in
several light hearted contests. The students mirrored each other
portraying love and hate with their human molds! So they acted; they
whispered. They screamed and laughed as they reenacted a scene from
"Romeo & Juliet ".
Students emerged from the workshop knowing more about Shakespeare,
learning more about themselves, and understanding better what it is to
be human. It was an experience of creativity 11th Graders won’t soon
forget ... |
