Parents as Volunteers
Teacher-Parent relationships are of utmost importance in the education of young child. When the school and home are united, the child will be able to reach fullest potential in all life sides. We, as teachers in H.H.H.S., take the leadership in initiating contacts with parents through various ways. During the theme ''Who We Are'' and the Unit Title ''That's Me", learning healthy habits was one of many crucial goals in which parents also helped in stressing on. For example, Jad's mom was so eager to share with us discussions about the importance of fruits for our bodies to make them Balanced, which is one of the essential attributes in the IB Learner Profile. As for that, we cooperated together in preparing the fruit salad in our classroom. Moreover, Ibrahim's mom was also interested to help us prepare the vegetable salad taking also into consideration its importance for our bodies. Furthermore, while highlighting the significance of exercising on our bodies, Sabine' s mom was also helpful in attending the Sports Day in which she distributed Exercise Books on the children and taught them some exercises.
In addition, in order to clarify the third and fourth inquiries which were about growth, change and family members, Sereen's mom, her baby brother, Abdul-latif's mom and grandmother were happy to be present in our classroom to discuss issues about growing, and kids were delighted to listen to a story about family members read by Abdul-latif' s mom.
