"Why are there Day and Night?"
During this unit, "Earth and Sky", KGIB learners inquired and
brainstormed about why there is day and night and their suggestions were
recorded on KWL chart. Then, they were engaged in viewing a power point
presentation that fostered their curious questioning about the reason of
day and night. The learners recorded their comparison between day and
night activities on a Venn diagram chart and reflected on their
understanding of day and night cycles by drawing on their journals.
Also, they enthusiastically acted out the experiment of earth rotation
around itself causing day and night by spinning the earth globe and
directing the lights on its half, darkening the other side to conclude
that sun cannot shine the entire world at the same time.
