Back to a century-year old
feud, back to an immortal love story, back to a time when Shakespeare
held the Globe. The giggles and laughs ignited the room as life roared
across the stage. There on that LAU stage stood the Capulets and the
Monatgues, and there stood between them Romeo and Juliet.
In a very interesting workshop in LAU-Beirut, held by Adam Coleman, an
actor in the Globe Theater-London, Grade 11 got the chance to explore
their brilliance (yes, brilliance). The students could not help but
burst into joyous laughter through a series of fun and amusing
activities that emphasized on the idea that it’s natural and human to
make mistakes. Then they were divided into groups that had to compete in
simple lively challenges, where the students’ enthusiasm and energy
shone as Mr. Coleman juggled a few jokes with his British accent. They
understood the power of body language in conveying a thought, a
character, or even a certain mood as they indulged in the theatrical
experience. The workshop ended with the students acting a part of Romeo
and Juliet, they chuckled, whispered, and yelled with such emotion and
life.
Grade 11 entered the stage as bored and tired students, with no
expectations, but left with confidence and life, leaving the vivacious
echoes of their chuckles and smiles on stage. |
