Because we, as secondary students and as
reading club members, believe that reading aloud can be fun when shared
with younger kids, we visited the elementary library and picked up
stories convenient to grade two students. After practicing the proper
intonation and voice expression with the help of our teachers, we
initiated a reading session held on October 30,2010 in the elementary
school. We were divided into groups; each one read a different story to
members of grade two. This experience was so thrilling that it surpassed
everyone’s expectations. At first, we panicked, but when the children
started interacting enthusiastically, we enjoyed every moment with those
inquisitive kids that we had underestimated. The kids enjoyed the
experience too. At the end, we all had a bundle of laughs along with our
reading club teachers, Mrs. Zeina, Miss Heba, and Miss Nemat. We
certainly hope we could repeat the experience.
