SAT…FUN???
For the first SAT lesson to be appealing, fun would definitely boost the
students’ energy and motivation towards a material they consider
important, yet somehow challenging.
During summer students were asked to start getting familiar with the SAT
material including SAT words they have to study as a preparation for the
SAT exam. Back to class, different activities tackling students’ memory
skills were introduced. The Patching Hexagon Words was a game where
students competed against each other to reach the finish line after
guessing the meaning of SAT words. In another game, the class was
divided into groups, where members of each group were provided with a
different list of SAT words along with their meanings written on
separate cards. Each group had to match the words with the suitable
definitions as fast as they could and with the least number of mistakes
in order to be considered winners.
In both activities, the whole atmosphere was charged with a competitive
spirit that rendered the tasks more enjoyable.
